Mercedes-Benz is probably the most famous luxury brand in India and commands its value since long. The 3-point star means luxury and signifies arrival of head honcho, even today, despite the availability of other brands like Audi, BMW and even Jaguar for that matter. Mercedes-Benz’s first Indian venture was with then Telco ( now Tata ) in 1954 to manufacture commercial vehicles which lasted for 15 years. The two firms joined hands once again in 1994 to manufacture Mercedes-Benz luxury cars in India. Till as recent as 2010, Mercedes-Benz used Tata Motor’s paint facility for its range of luxury cars manufactured in India. Mercedes-Benz’s first model to be on sale in India was E-class which was also available with a diesel motor in later part of its life. Mercedes was quick to learn that luxury car buyers want latest products and not old ones and since has always kept its product range in tune with international launches and changes. The currently line of Mercedes include A, B, C, CLA, CLS, E, GL, GLA, GLE, S, SLK, Maybach and AMG models. AMG variants which are sportier and powerful variants of its regular products are also available in India. Mercedes is having its own manufacturing facility in Maharashtra where it even assembles the S-Class, known was the best car in the world. World famous to have the best back seat in business, Mercedes also boasts of impressive refinement and the silence in its cabins is referred to as “tomb like silence”. The focus of Mercedes-Benz to get back to its original over-engineering standard after early 2000’s quality reviews is obvious. Once known for its magic carpet like ride quality, Mercedes-Benz has subsequently mastered great handling cars which do not compromise on very important ride quality balance. Mercedes-Benz is arguably the best luxury manufacturer that has earned its reputation among world leaders and industrialists with impressive, segment best comfort along with host of other parameters.
