Volvo is working on the all-electric V40 which will be based on Volvo’s new CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform. This platform is also underpinning the new XC40 crossover. Volvo Polestar 2 will be the first electric car made on the CMA platform.
New V40 will feature a lower roofline than XC40 and will be wider than it. It will be offered with diesel, petrol and plug-in hybrid technology. Manufacturer will offer the car with three petrol and two electric versions. Diesel motor will come with four-cylinder D3 and D4 engines while on the other hand petrol version will come with three cylinder T3 petrol engine as well as a four-cylinder T4,T5 petrol engines.
Polestar 2 will make its way in the second half of 2019, after that new V40 will be launched and it will come with range of battery options. Volvo builds their new vehicles in China so it's expected, China and Sweden will be the first countries to get all these electric cars than other markets.
