Superb

Wrapup

Superb's new generation launched recently takes the game further in its segment. Nice design coupled with solid build, backed by strong petrol and diesel options, it offers space that rivals cars one or two segments above. Even with pricier top end variants, Superb delivers high on value. Inconsistent dealer experience could do with improvement.

Quick Review

Running successfully in its second generation, this large executive luxury offering from Skoda has created a niche for itself in the Indian entry level luxury market. With great features and solid exteriors, this sedan is responsible of putting dents in the sales of German Big 3 (Audi, Merc & BMW) entry level offerings. Running on Indian roads for quite a time now, the sedan did deserve a makeover and Skoda seems to have hit the sweet spot with the all new Superb. On the outside, everything seems to have taken a sharp and angular approach which is evident in its fine parallel creases on the bonnet that run upto the new front grille. Skoda logo now sits at the top of the grille and is now a part of the bonnet, while the new grille gets more bolder with multiple vertical chrome slats and a new set of headlamp housing. The bi-Xenon headlights now appear more angular and sharp as ever with LED daytime running lights along with crystalline elements finish. Donning a sporty avatar, the sedan features a wide air dam on the front bumper along with chrome insert and neatly placed fog lamps which enhances its razor sharp appeal. The front lip spoiler at the bumper definitely adds a character to the new sedan. The sharp shoulder line on the sides is one of its prime design element which runs beautifully from the tail lights and merges onto the front quarter panel showcasing its length. Running on stylish 17 inch alloy wheels further makes this sedan quite attractive on the sides. It does carry forward the iconic C shaped tail lights onto the back from its previous avatar but the new set of lights are very sleek and futuristic with its LED strips that appear attractive especially during the night. The rear complements its overall sleek and sharp personality with neatly placed reflectors on the rear bumper along with its unique integrated exhaust unit housing. On the whole, this new Superb seems to have hit the gym at the right time by gaining muscles and not mass on the outside.
